| Transport | You can visit the island of Lido by ACTV's public transport. We recommend that you first download the AVM Venezia official app on your phone from the PlayStore. This is the official app of ACTV and you can find the exact times of the waterbuses ('vaporetto') and the best route from your hotel. There are a number of lines that stop at Lido, namely line 1, the circular line 5.1 and 5.2 and in high season also line 6. To visit Lido you need two one-way tickets or an ACTV day ticket which you can purchase online. |
Relax on Lido di Venezia
Lido is the town on the island of Lido di Venezia. The island is best known for its beach and the film festival that takes place there. In winter it is wonderfully quiet, but in July and August the island attracts many tourists. During a short city trip to Venice you probably will not visit the island, but with a longer summer holiday you can easily visit the island to escape from the bustle of the six boroughs in Venice. The islet, together with Lido Pellestrina, forms a barrier between the Venetian lagoon and the Adriatic Sea. The narrowest part of the island is heavily built-up, while the northern and southern extremes contain a lot of nature.

On the side of the Adriatic Sea you will find a strip of beach where adults and children can relax. If you can't stay on your beach towel, you can also walk to the Faro di San Nicolò, visit the old Jewish cemetery or catch a show at the Planetarium. The island has enough hotels and restaurants, so staying overnight and having good food is no problem here. All the way south you can burn off your energy on the golf course or explore the military defense point.
Local tip: If you're visiting Venice during the warmer months, spending a few hours on Lido is a great way to experience a different side of the lagoon. Rent a bicycle, cycle through the quiet streets and enjoy the beach before returning to the historic centre by vaporetto in the evening.
